Will there be Cross Country in Fall 2020?
Probably yes - Phase Three guidelines seem to indicate training on outdoor fields is permitted. It is highly likely, however, that the DYS cross country program will be focused on training rather than regional competitive meets. It is highly likely meets would be in-house. There will be some changes to normal routines such as social distancing and facial coverings for all parents like every group activity would require now.
What about fees?
Registration is open but payment is not required until the beginning of the season. Like with Track in Spring 2020, if we get to the start of the season and health guidance changes after payments have been collected we will offer at least a 90% refund.
What does my runner need to bring to practices and meets?
Runners should have a good pair of running shoes, a water bottle labelled with a name and layers depending on weather. Depending on the course, long socks and bug spray are a good idea as well.
Is it mandatory to attend both practices each week?
We realize that this may be a 2nd sport for many of our runners and, therefore, like to keep the program flexible. Although, 2 practices a week are recommended, it is not required in order to participate in the meets. If you know that your runner will consistently not be able to attend one of the weekly practices, please let the coaches know in advance.
What happens in inclement weather?
Like most outdoor sports, a rainy day will not cancel an event. Be prepared to take home muddy runners! Lightning and other extreme weather will result in a cancellation or delay. In those cases, you will be notified through email and/or text.
Who do I contact if I have any questions?
The best method of contact is to email
