CAPITOL AREA WRESTLING LEAGUE
CAWL - COMPETITIONS
- THIS IS ALSO THE MAIN PART OF THE DULLES YOUTH LIGHTNING PROGRAM
- The following Dulles Youth Sports groups will compete in CAWL:
- Mason Dixon group, sometimes referred to as the Light Blue group
- Development Group, sometimes referred to as DEVGRU
- Dulles Youth Sports partnered with the Ranger Wrestling Club so to be able to fill the 19 roster slot CAWL team. Wrestlers share the main lineup slots selectively throughout the season while being able to get exhibition matches as well.
- Wrestlers must participate in three tournaments and accumulate seven matches to qualify for the season end finals event (the December Pre-CAWL event counts toward the tally).
Competition schedules are:
- Sunday, December 3, Pre-CAWL at the McDonogh School in Maryland
- Sunday, December 17, Rangers-Dulles host CAWL at Rock Ridge HS in Loudoun County
- Monday, January 15, Martin Luther King Holiday Special Tournament, location is at Warhawks Club Barn (actually a warehouse where Kyle Snyder practiced) 13920 Forsythe Road, Sykesville, MD 21784, there is a red/orange rock as a key landmark to turn into the facility. Weighins: 10:00 AM, Wrestling: Noon, against Southern Maryland Wolfpack, Wrestling: 2:00 PM against Warhawks, There is no registration link for this event.
- Wednesday, February 7, at the Mauraders FCA location: 10103 Residency Road, Manassas VA 20110, with Weighins 6:00 PM with Wrestling Starting 7:00 PM (private gym in red brick warehouse near Manassas airport)
- Saturday, February 17, Rangers-Dulles host CAWL at Loudoun County HS in Leesburg VA
- Sunday, March 4, end-of-season finale, location TBD
NOTE - ALL FAMILIES MUST HELP HOST 2 MDWL TOURNAMENTS AND 1 CAWL TOURNAMENT IN LIEU OF PAYMENT FOR WRESTLER PARTICIPATION IN SEASON EVENTS. HOST DATES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
- RANGERS-DULLES HOST MDWL tournament on SUNDAY, JANUARY 14
- Location: Heritage High School 520 Evergreen Mills Rd, Leesburg, VA 20175
- RANGERS-DULLES HOST CAWL tournament on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17
- Location: Loudoun County High School 415 Dry Mill Rd SW, Leesburg, VA 20175
- RANGERS-DULLES HOST MDWL tournament on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 18
- Location: Loudoun County High School 415 Dry Mill Rd SW, Leesburg, VA 20175
VOLUNTEER DUTY ASSIGNMENTS ARE DONE BY SIGNUP GENIUS OR ASSIGNMENTS BY CLUB MANAGERS.
ALSO NOTE - WRESTLERS ARE ASSUMED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FEW REMAINING CAWL TOURNAMENTS. PARENTS ARE REQUIRED TO EXPLICITLY NOTIFY COACHES OF PLANNED OR EMERGENCY ABSENCES. EXHIBITION MATCHES ARE CONSTRUCTED BY MADISON RULE TO ROUGHLY MATCH KIDS WITH SIMILAR SKILL AND WEIGHTS.
