- Note to parents: the events listed are those that DYS endorses in terms of (a) knowledge of at least one DYS kids planning to attend, (b) high quality event from prior experience, (c) provided due to ease of travel or convenience for DYS families.

Camp Listings in Chronological Order

The following terminology may apply to the camps below:

- L-Local means within an easy drive of the Dulles VA area

- C-Commuter (means parents arrange hotel or lodging separately from the camp)

- SO-Sleep Over or resident (generally meals and lodging come with the camp)

 

June 16-17, Saturday-Sunday, Navy Father-Son Camp, Annapolis Maryland

  • Dates: Session 1 – June 16-17, 2018, or Session 2 – July 7-8, 2018 Price: $245 for father & son $80 for each additional child Grades: Pre-K thru 12 Description: Fathers will create a wholesome connection with their sons. The father and son mini camp gives dads and sons a great chance to connect in a common environment. The camp will include fundamental skills at a pace suitable for both a young child and a wise father.

June 18-21, Monday-Thursday, Top Of The Podium, Sterling VA, PA-INVASION CAMP** SOLD OUT**

  • Two sessions per day
  • Plus an added college style session for extra cost
  • Cost:  $299
  • Location: Sterling VA
  • Advanced style sessions for grades 4-8th
  • This camp features 4x All-American Steve Fittery and former Iowa Hawkeye 3x All-American Mike Evans. Both of these clinicians have instructed at TOP before and are extremely popular. In addition, Zain Retherford from Penn State will serve as a Camp Counselor. Others will be named in the coming weeks.
  • This camp is recommended for wrestlers with at least two years of prior experience, or those that competed in advanced wrestling competitions so to get the most out of the program. Instructors have credentials at the national and international level. It is very convenient for kids in the lower Loudoun county and western Fairfax county areas, especially those in the Dulles Youth Sports programs

June 18-22, Freedom HS, All Day Camp, South Riding VA

  • Cost:  $125 for the entire week (lunch not included)

  • This camp is for anyone of any skill level but is especially good for kids with less than three years of prior experience in the sport of wrestling, including kids new to the sport. It is very convenient for kids in the lower Loudoun county and western Fairfax county areas, especially those in the Dulles Youth Sports programs.

  • Float down the Shenandoah River with Dulles and Ranger wrestlers, families, and friends for some Team Bonding

June 24-27, Sunday-Wednesday, University of Virginia Wrestling Camps

  • Virginia Wrestling Camps offer options for all ages and levels. Physical, technical, and character development will be addressed.  Enjoy learning from the UVa Coaching Staff, UVa wrestlers, and Olympic hopefuls.  Speeches will be included in all camps. Listen to ACC and NCAA Champions as well as current aspiring Olympians. Instructors: Coach Garland.
  • **Technique Camp, Date: June 24-27, 2018, Age: Rising 2nd-12th Grade
    Cost: $495 Resident or $250 Commuter 
    (Team Discount Available: Teams with 12 or more attending will receive a $75 team discount per camper*)
    Description: Camp will consist of technique that will work at any level. We'll cover offense, counter offense, Garland grind ride, and how to get out on bottom. Telephone conversations with the head coach specified a concentration on legs.
  • Elite Camp, Date: June 24-30, 2018, Age: 7th-12th Grade
    Cost: $995 Resident or $495 Commuter
    Description:
     You will be exposed to the process our Olympic/World team goes through in preparation for the World Championships. There will be strength, nutrition, metal, technique, film, and cardio training that will get you ready for any competition at any level. Come find out what the elite do to beat the best!

June 28 to Sun, July 1, Thur-Sun, Lock Haven Specialized Technique or Team Camp **

  • ** Option 1-Top and Pinning at its best– learn the positions and technique used to ride, turn, and pin the best in the country. Each session will emphasize top work including legs, cradles, tilts and bar-arms. The LHU coaching staff will teach you to be aggressive and score from the top position and counter attacks. Back points win matches, get your top series at this camp! Learn how to pin from every position!
  • Option 2– Takedowns and Chain Wrestling-If you want to be one of the best, you must have excellent chain wrestling. From set-ups to finishes this camp will emphasize scoring from your feet and making a quick transition once you get to the mat. Hand fighting, movement, under-hooks, front heads locks and leg attacks will be your specialty after finishing this great camp.

  • Middle School Team Camp, Dates: 7/11-7/14
    • Cost: Commuter - $300; Resident Non A/C - $390; Resident A/C - $410
    • MS camp is designed around individual competition while using a TEAM CONCEPT that allows campers to participate with their team. If you attend camp as an individual or in a small group you will be placed on a team. This camp will consist of both competition (dual meets/individual tournament) and technique sessions. All technique will be taught by the Virginia Tech coaching staff or the upper classmen on the Hokie wrestling team. Each camper will be guaranteed between 12 and 18 matches. We have one of the top team camps on the East coast. In 2015 more than 500 campers and 38 teams attended this camp.
  • Team Camp for High School, Dates: 7/11-7/14
    • Cost: Commuter - $325; Resident Non A/C - $415; Resident A/C - $435
    • HS camp is designed around individual competition while using a TEAM CONCEPT that allows campers to participate with their team. If you attend camp as an individual or in a small group you will be placed on a team. This camp will consist of both competition (dual meets/individual tournament) and technique sessions. All technique will be taught by the Virginia Tech coaching staff or the upper classmen on the Hokie wrestling team. Each camper will be guaranteed between 12 and 18 matches.   • ​If you weigh over 100 pounds we recommend you register with the John Champe or Champe Team in the pull down selection.
  • If you weigh less than 100 pounds, we recommend you register with the Dulles Youth Sports Middle School Team in the appropriate pull down menu when registering.
