KEY NOTES

- NVWF changed the manner in which it defines the "age groups" as follows

- They take all registrants recorded in the database at Thankgiving Day, and split them all into five groups to be as even as possible. They use the fist day of some month to begin the group and the last day of another month to end the age group.

- In other words, the NVWF tries to even out or level the number of participants in each age division equally thus causing each age division to have a different number of months.

- Wrestlers may "bump up" to compete in the next age division on the same day they compete in their own division if they want to get extra matches to challenge themselves.

  • Kids born between Jan 1 and Aug 31 of 2005 are typically young 9th graders, however, they typically don't compete due to participation in high school events
  • Kids born between Sep 1 and Dec 31 of 2014 are pre-schoolers, and typically are low in numbers as competed with Kindergarten kids
  • Age divisions listed here are based on last year's definitions
  • Age divisions are based on birth date ranges rather than birth years or grades
  • Age divisions are typically set around the Thanksgiving period when NVWF registrations settle
  • Kids are typically assigned to practice rooms based on their birth dates for specific age divisions
  • Kids may be moved to an older or younger age division for practices if too light or too heavy
  • Parents typically arrive in time to checkin during the weighin times to wrestle during the specified age division matches
  • Kids may wrestle in their own age division plus enter the next older age division
  • NVWF warmup periods can start as soon as mats become unoccupied from earlier age divisions
  • Coaches are typically assigned to a particular age division
  • Coaches are expected to stay during their assigned age division plus the next older division
