The Winter Season 2019-2020 Wrestling Program

November - February

 

Groups

  • Practice-Only
  • Standard-NVWF
  • All-Star Intensive
  • Travel 

 

Practice-Only

  • Wrestlers are mixed with kids from the Standard-NVWF practice rooms during the week
  • Kids that register for practices only will not be able to compete in league competitions due to registration costs
  • There are occasional competitions that may be available

 

Standard-NVWF

  • Compete every Sunday in NVWF
  • Northern Virginia Wrestling Federation (NVWF) is comprised of 30-plus clubs in northern VA
  • Comprised of several NVWF age divisions: SEN, INT, JUN, MID, BAN based on birth dates
  • Compete in a season-end final NVWF tournament the last weekend of February
  • Select wrestlers may possibly compete in a one-day Dulles Duals tournament
  • Practice two days per week in local high schools
  • Older kids have an additional free weekly one-day optional practice

 

All-Star Intensive

  • Principally for middle school age wrestlers with exceptions by approval by head coach and registrar
  • Comprised of select advanced wrestlers via an evaluation process
  • Compete in team-scheduled local wrestling competitions in the Dulles VA area
  • Compete in tournaments November through February
  • Compete in the Virginia state-wide VAWA championship tournament at the end of February
  • Select wrestlers may possibly compete in a one-day Dulles Duals tournament
  • Practice two days per week in local high schools (T/TH)
  • Joint practice one day per week with local clubs SYA and CYA at Westfields HS (Wednesday nights)

 

Travel

  • DYS will offer additional opportunities (contact us if interested in being head coach for this)

 

Obligations for Parents and Wrestlers

  • Wrestlers are required to attend team scheduled competition events
  • Wrestlers are required to take steps to qualify for end-of-season final events
  • Parents are required to complete volunteer duties outlined elsewhere
