Top of the Podium's (TOP) Dulles Duals

  • Information on how to participate in the Dulles Duals will be provided in the month of November after we have a better understanding of club interest and availability.

Elementary Novice Duals event

  • One day tournament with roughly 2-3 rounds intended for “rookie” and less experienced wrestlers in grades K-6 who haven't wrestled in many, if any, duals before.

  • Goal is to expose less experienced wrestlers to the excitement of a dual format. Therefore a team’s primary goal isn’t to win the dual meet but rather obtain quality, exciting matches for the wrestlers.

  • Tournament date:  Monday, January 20th

  • Grades K-6

  • Wrestlers must be born on or after September 1, 2007 regardless of their grade.

  • Eleven weight classes:  50, 55, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 80, 86, 92, 99, UNL(extra)

  • Heavy weight UNL is an extra slot that does not count toward team points.

Middle School Teams Duals event

  • One day tournament with roughly 3-4 rounds for teams of wrestlers who attend the same middle school (two schools are allowed to combine to form a team, plus two wrestlers who don't attend the school, ideally home schooled or private school students who would normally attend the school).

  • Given that DYS is fed by 4 primary middle schools, we'll possibly have 2 teams.

  • We expect a lot of novice wrestlers at this event.

  • The goal is to expose middle schoolers to the excitement of a dual format, and the main objective is an exciting dual with competitive matches (more so than winning).

  • Tournament date:  Monday, February 17th

  • Grades 6-8 (typical birth dates range 9/1/2005 to 8/31/2008 although some kids are held back).

  • Wrestlers must be born on or after January 1, 2005.

  • Eleven weight classes:  75, 81, 87, 93, 100, 107, 115, 124, 135, 147, 162, UNL(extra)

  • Heavy weight UNL is an extra slot that does not count toward team points.

How to join a team:

  • DYS coaches have yet to meet to discuss how best to form teams, select a coach, and populate roster slots.

  • Simply express your interests to your practice coach lead for now.
